Role Overview

  • Deliver comprehensive administrative support to Consultants, Specialist Nurses, and the broader healthcare team, ensuring that all documentation meets high standards of quality. Exceptional proof-reading abilities are essential.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as tracking patient waiting lists and ensuring adherence to NHS regulations.
  • Organize and coordinate patient appointments in accordance with local healthcare team protocols.
  • Facilitate effective communication by managing correspondence, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and overseeing telephone and email interactions.
  • Assist in managing the schedules of Consultants and the healthcare team.
  • Work collaboratively with the team to ensure sufficient coverage during periods of absence.
  • Maintain electronic patient records in compliance with Trust policies.
  • Adhere to governance standards, including training and compliance with Trust guidelines.
  • Support fellow secretaries and administrative personnel in delivering a high-quality service.

About the Position

This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled Secretary or Administrator to contribute to our Paediatric Allergy service.

Located within the Centre for Women's Health, the successful candidate will become part of a dedicated team providing essential Secretarial and Administrative support to Specialist Nurses and Paediatric Consultants.

The ideal candidate will possess a range of secretarial and administrative experience, preferably within a healthcare setting; however, we welcome applicants from diverse sectors who believe they have relevant transferable skills.

In this dynamic and sometimes challenging role, the candidate must be a collaborative team player who thrives in a multidisciplinary environment. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are vital, along with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively. Candidates should also demonstrate robust secretarial or administrative experience, organizational capabilities, and the ability to work independently.

As this role involves interaction with patients, families, and healthcare professionals, excellent communication skills and a compassionate, efficient telephone manner are required.

Working Hours: The position requires a commitment of hours per week, to be scheduled between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday. Flexible working arrangements may be considered.
