Overall accountability for the offshore crewing operations within the designated fleet. Engage directly with clients regarding all aspects of crewing. Responsible for overseeing a dedicated team, ensuring that the vessels are staffed with qualified, competent, and suitably experienced personnel.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the management of the crewing function, ensuring vessels are staffed with qualified seafarers and compliance with the company's safety management protocols.
  • Manage the daily operations of the assigned team and resource allocation, ensuring adherence to company policies and standards, including the administration and monitoring of leave and absence records.
  • Collaborate with the Line Manager to develop a manpower strategy that incorporates the company's Key Performance Indicators.
  • Ensure effective management, implementation, and compliance with the manpower strategy.
  • Guarantee that the fleet meets the latest standards set by the Maritime Labour Convention (MLC).
  • Ensure that the assigned fleet has adequate union representation.
  • Manage the crewing system for maintaining all necessary personnel records.
  • Engage directly with clients, operations, technical departments, and external representatives on manning issues related to personnel and support for the company's crewing operations.
  • Oversee vessel operational costs, ensuring that appropriate processes and procedures are in place to meet budgetary requirements.
  • Coordinate with operations/technical departments and senior management regarding personnel disciplinary matters aboard company-managed vessels.
  • Ensure compliance with any charterers' crewing matrix.
  • Responsible for the professional development of team members, ensuring that the growth of all direct reports is effectively managed and documented.
  • Assist in the preparation of crewing budgets.
  • Promote company values and behaviors, ensuring team awareness and demonstrating the key behaviors sought within Northern Marine Group.
  • Conduct monthly manpower analysis and projections, preparing monthly and quarterly Marine HR KPI reports.
  • Prepare, monitor, and review the annual manning and crew travel budget analysis/OPEX reports for the fleet in collaboration with business control.
  • Support the preparation of quarterly budget reviews for specific clients.
  • Travel to Group Company offices as necessary for auditing and related activities.
  • Perform other tasks and ad hoc project work as required by the company.
Essential Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in HR or General Business preferred.
  • Proven experience in managing and leading diverse crewing personnel.
  • Highly organized with the ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent influencing and negotiation abilities.
  • Effective relationship-building skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Experience within a seagoing HR team for a ship management company.
  • Knowledge of shipping HR-related legislation, including STCW and MLC.
