Position Overview

The Crewing Manager holds the primary responsibility for overseeing all offshore crewing operations for the designated fleet. This role involves direct communication with clients regarding all aspects of crewing, ensuring that the vessels are staffed with qualified and experienced personnel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the crewing function to ensure vessels are staffed with competent seafarers while adhering to the company's safety management protocols.
  • Oversee the daily operations of the assigned team, ensuring compliance with company policies, including the management of leave and absence records.
  • Collaborate with the Line Manager to formulate a manpower strategy that aligns with the company's Key Performance Indicators.
  • Implement and ensure adherence to the manpower strategy across the fleet.
  • Ensure compliance with the latest standards set by the Maritime Labour Convention (MLC).
  • Guarantee that adequate union representation is in place for the assigned fleet.
  • Manage the crewing system for maintaining all necessary personnel records.
  • Engage directly with clients, operational teams, and technical departments on manning issues related to the company's crewing operations.
  • Oversee vessel operational costs, ensuring that processes are in place to meet budgetary requirements.
  • Coordinate with operational and technical departments regarding personnel disciplinary matters aboard company-managed vessels.
  • Establish procedures to comply with any charterers' crewing matrix.
  • Facilitate the professional development of team members, ensuring proper management and documentation of their growth.
  • Assist in the preparation of crewing budgets.
  • Promote company values and behaviors, ensuring team awareness and adherence.
  • Conduct monthly analyses of manpower, prepare projections, and generate Marine HR KPI reports on a monthly and quarterly basis.
  • Review and analyze the annual manning and crew travel budget in collaboration with business control.
  • Support the preparation of quarterly budget reviews for specific clients.
  • Travel to company offices as required for auditing and related activities.
  • Undertake additional tasks and projects as assigned by the company.

Essential Qualifications

  • University degree in Human Resources or Business Administration.
  • Proven experience in managing and leading diverse crewing personnel.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to perform under pressure.
  • Analytical mindset.
  • Effective negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Strong relationship-building capabilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience in a seagoing HR team within a ship management organization.
  • Familiarity with shipping HR legislation, including STCW and MLC.
