Position Overview

The role is designed to assist in the operations of the Neonatal Unit, focusing on the care of infants and their families by ensuring that cleaning and maintenance tasks are performed efficiently and to a high standard. Responsibilities include executing assigned duties that do not necessitate a registered nursing qualification while working independently. The aim is to contribute positively to the ongoing enhancement of the service, particularly in the organization of the Neonatal Unit.

This position involves collaboration with the nursing team and other members of the multi-disciplinary team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, compassionate care.

Key Responsibilities

- Engage with families in the care process, providing assistance and information in a friendly and supportive manner.

- Maintain the privacy and dignity of patients, safeguarding confidential information at all times.

- Support non-clinical care as directed by registered nursing staff or healthcare professionals.

- Accompany families during clinical procedures or examinations, adhering to established policies.

- Utilize appropriate moving and handling techniques and equipment during manual tasks.

- Report relevant information back to the registered nurse responsible for patient care.

- Ensure a high standard of cleanliness and organization within the unit, contributing to a safe and welcoming environment.

- Responsible for the cleaning of specialized equipment after use, reporting any issues to the nurse in charge.

- Collaborate with technical staff regarding any equipment malfunctions.

- Manage the washing, maintenance, and labeling of infant clothing, ensuring compliance with infection control protocols.

- Participate in the sterilization of emergency equipment, ensuring proper tracking and maintenance of sterilized items.

- Maintain cleanliness and organization of storage areas and medical supplies, supporting nursing staff in inventory management.

- Participate in audits related to infection control and environmental standards.

- Assist in the education of nursing staff regarding the care and decontamination of specialized medical equipment.

- Adhere to all relevant policies and regulations, including health and safety and fire safety protocols.

- Ensure that parent accommodation within the unit is kept to high standards for use by families in need.

- Provide a welcoming atmosphere for families and visitors, addressing inquiries and offering support to those in distress.

- Undertake additional duties as required to meet the needs of the service within the scope of the role.
