Special Educational Needs Support Assistant

Location: Royston, Cambridgeshire/Hertfordshire border

Salary: £12.78 per hour (£20, £22,834.95 actual salary) based on experience and qualifications

Hours: Full time - 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Term time only.

Teaching Personnel is offering a rewarding opportunity to join a specialized educational institution dedicated to providing a tailored learning environment for students aged 6 to 19 with a variety of Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD) and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), including autism spectrum disorders and ADHD. We are seeking a full-time Special Educational Needs Support Assistant.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Play a vital role in assisting students with their educational journey, fostering their development and progress across the curriculum in diverse learning settings.
  • Support young individuals with various needs, including profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD) and complex medical conditions, to reach their academic and personal aspirations.
  • Promote an inclusive environment that values equality, diversity, and the rights of all learners, ensuring they are treated with dignity and respect.
  • Focus on empowering students and enhancing their learning experiences.
  • Enhance your understanding of special education challenges and strategies.
  • Deliver high-quality support across all aspects of the role.
  • Engage in physical intervention and personal care routines as required.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Willingness to pursue formal qualifications and training, with all costs covered by the organization.
  • A genuine passion and empathy for children and young people with additional needs.
  • A strong ambition to help overcome learning barriers.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently in various settings.
  • Excellent communication skills, particularly in relation to the unique communication needs of our students.
  • Capability to understand and implement effective educational support tailored to identified needs.
  • Minimum educational qualifications of Level 2 (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
