Special Educational Needs Support Assistant

Location: Royston, Cambridgeshire/Hertfordshire border

Salary: £12.78 per hour (£20, £22,834.95 actual salary) based on experience and qualifications

Hours: Full time - 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Term time only.

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated Special Educational Needs Support Assistant to join a specialized educational institution. This independent day school offers a tailored learning environment for students aged 6 to 19 with various moderate to severe learning difficulties, including autism spectrum disorders and ADHD. The role is vital in providing personalized support to students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist students in their learning, development, and progress across all areas of the curriculum in diverse settings, including the classroom and community.
  • Support young individuals with a range of needs, including profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD) and complex medical conditions, to achieve their educational and personal objectives.
  • Foster an inclusive environment that promotes equality, diversity, and respect for all learners.
  • Empower students through supportive practices and a focus on their individual needs.
  • Enhance your understanding of special education challenges and best practices.
  • Deliver high-quality assistance in all aspects of the role.
  • Participate in physical intervention and personal care routines as necessary.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Willingness to pursue formal qualifications and training, with full funding provided.
  • Genuine passion and empathy for children and young people with additional needs.
  • Ambition and determination to help students overcome learning barriers.
  • Able to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently when required.
  • Strong communication skills, particularly in relation to the communication needs of students.
  • Ability to deliver effective education and support tailored to identified needs.
  • Minimum educational qualification of level 2 (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
