ADHD Service Community Nurse Consultant

Colchester, Essex, United Kingdom Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Position Overview

An exceptional opportunity has emerged to influence the future of healthcare delivery by joining our ADHD diagnostic and intervention team serving the North East and West Essex regions. This role will be integrated with the North East Essex Autism Service, with aspirations to expand into a comprehensive neurodevelopmental service.

Our multidisciplinary team comprises professionals from nursing, psychiatry, psychology, and pharmacy. These roles are vital in facilitating the clinical execution of assessments and interventions, both pharmacological and psychological, for individuals with suspected or confirmed ADHD who do not qualify for secondary mental health services. The team collaborates closely with local Primary Care Networks (PCNs) as a referral pathway and engages with local NHS Talking Therapies services to enhance support for individuals. There is a continuous opportunity for training and consultation with PCNs, mental health, and GP colleagues across both secondary and primary care settings.

Key Responsibilities

Candidates should possess a strong enthusiasm for ADHD and ideally have prior experience working with this often overlooked demographic. We encourage you to contribute your expertise, skills, and experience to our team, where we appreciate the diverse input of our practitioners and work collectively to achieve optimal outcomes. If you are innovative and dedicated to enhancing access to and the quality of care for individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders, this position is well-suited for you. While we prefer the candidate to be a nurse prescriber, there is an opportunity to pursue this qualification once in the role.

About Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust

  • Season Ticket Loans
  • NHS staff discounts

  • Opportunities to work additional shifts and broaden knowledge and experience in various areas
  • Salary Sacrifice schemes, including lease cars and Cycle to Work
  • Flexible working arrangements from day one

The Trust actively supports and encourages flexible working for all employees. We provide numerous options, and you are invited to discuss what is feasible for this role with the recruiting manager. If selected, you will have the chance to submit a flexible working request from your first day of employment.

Role Responsibilities

This position offers outstanding clinical leadership and service development experiences. We will facilitate up to £6000 of appraisal-linked training and development during the initial 2-3 years in the role, aligning with the job responsibilities. This may include nurse prescriber training for those who do not currently hold this qualification or leadership development opportunities. We also welcome applications from Band 6 Nurses aspiring to progress to Band 7 and explore Non-Medical Prescribing (NMP).
