Adult ADHD Clinical Psychologist Position

Colchester, Essex, United Kingdom Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Position Overview

An exceptional opportunity has emerged to contribute to the ongoing enhancement of the multidisciplinary ADHD service within the region. This role will be closely associated with the Autism Service, with aspirations to evolve into a more extensive neurodevelopmental service in the future.

This position provides outstanding clinical leadership and opportunities for service innovation. It marks the beginning of a journey to investigate the potential for developing neurodevelopmental services, including a leadership or expert role. In this context, further professional growth through the appraisal process and additional leadership or neurodevelopmental training may be available, with funding of up to £6000, calculated pro rata, over a span of 2-3 years.

Key Responsibilities

We are seeking to fill a job share for the psychology position within this multidisciplinary team. This role is vital in delivering psychological assessments and interventions for individuals with suspected ADHD who are not already engaged with secondary mental health services. The team collaborates with local Primary Care Networks (PCNs) and NHS Talking Therapies to enhance support for individuals. There is an opportunity for ongoing training and consultation to PCNs, mental health professionals, and GP colleagues in both secondary and primary care settings, as well as in the broader community.

If you are innovative and dedicated to improving access to and the quality of care for individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders, this position is well aligned with your aspirations.

  • Excellent training facilities and opportunities

  • Salary Sacrifice schemes, including lease cars and Cycle to Work
  • Flexible employment from day one

Important Notice: As of April 1, 2022, individuals engaged in CQC regulated activities in England must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. This requirement aims to safeguard all users of health and social care services, as well as protect colleagues and reduce COVID-19 related absences.

For all roles at Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust that fall under the regulated activity criteria, proof of vaccination status (first and second dose) is now a condition of employment. Therefore, if you are successfully appointed for one of these roles, your vaccination status will be part of your pre-employment checks.

Job Responsibilities

The Trust boasts a highly regarded clinical psychology department, with clinical psychology integrated across most specialisms and involved in the planning and strategic implementation of both new and existing services.

We prioritize the development of our staff as essential to achieving key targets for the service and the Trust. The service maintains strong connections with and supervises clinical psychology trainees from various esteemed universities. Clinical research, teaching, and specialized interests are actively encouraged. In addition to formal training, department members have benefited from secondments and placements at several centers of excellence.
