The Role and Department Overview

As part of our ambitious ten-year strategy aimed at enhancing our global standing in research, teaching, and student experience, this role is crucial in promoting the University to various stakeholders, including:

• Prospective students and applicants;
• Academic and research partners;
• Collaborators in business and industry;
• Alumni and potential employers;
• Policymakers and influencers on national and international levels.

The primary goal is to significantly elevate the awareness and reputation of Durham University worldwide.

This position is situated within the Advancement Group, specifically in the Communications Team, reporting directly to the Communications and Engagement Manager (External). The objectives of the Advancement Group include:

• R1 (Reputation) - Enhancing global reputation;
• R2 (Recruitment) - Supporting international student recruitment;
• R3a (Return) - Driving philanthropic contributions;
• R3b (Return) - Boosting alumni and supporter engagement;
• E (Engagement) - Facilitating productive interactions with internal and external communities.

Key Responsibilities

The Communications Team is tasked with developing and executing strategies that include:

1. Marketing our academic programs and assisting in the recruitment of both domestic and international students;
2. Promoting the University and managing relationships with various stakeholders and influencers at local, national, and international levels;
3. Upholding and proactively managing the University’s brand and global reputation.
