The Role and Department Overview

Durham University is embarking on an ambitious strategy aimed at enhancing its global standing in research, education, and student experience. A key component of this strategy involves effectively promoting the University to various stakeholders, including:

• Prospective students and applicants;
• Potential academic and research partners;
• Collaborators in industry and business;

This position is part of the Advancement Group, specifically within the Communications Team, reporting to the Communications and Engagement Manager (External). The objectives of the Advancement Group include:

• R1 (Reputation) - Enhancing global reputation;
• R2 (Recruitment) - Supporting international student recruitment;
• R3a (Return) - Driving philanthropic contributions;
• R3b (Return) - Strengthening alumni and supporter engagement;
• E (Engagement) - Fostering productive relationships with both internal and external communities.

The Communications Team is responsible for a range of activities, including:

1. Marketing our programs to attract home and international students;
2. Promoting the University and managing engagement with various stakeholders and influencers;
3. Upholding the University’s brand and proactively managing its global reputation.

12. Familiarity with the Higher Education sector.
