Position Overview
Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Emergency Nurse Leader to join our esteemed Emergency Department. This role is pivotal in managing a high-volume department that caters to a diverse patient population, ensuring the delivery of exceptional emergency care.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Overseeing the operational management of the Emergency Department, including budget oversight and clinical governance.
- Providing professional leadership and guidance to the nursing team, fostering a collaborative environment among multidisciplinary team members.
- Developing and implementing clinical protocols and guidelines to enhance patient care.
- Ensuring that nursing staff deliver high-quality clinical services while respecting patients' individual needs and cultural backgrounds.
- Acting as a role model for clinical excellence and promoting continuous professional development among staff.
- Participating in research and quality improvement initiatives to elevate departmental standards.
- Managing resources effectively to maintain optimal patient flow and care delivery.
Staff Development and Management
The role includes responsibilities for:
- Identifying training needs and facilitating professional development opportunities for nursing staff.
- Implementing HR policies related to staffing, including recruitment, retention, and performance management.
- Conducting appraisals and setting objectives to enhance team performance and individual growth.
- Ensuring a balanced skill mix within the department and monitoring the use of temporary staffing solutions.
