Position: Lead Worker (Housing Coach) - internally recognized as Lead Worker (Coaching)
Contract Type: Fixed-term contract for 12 months, covering parental leave.
Role Overview
As a Lead Worker, you will be instrumental in assisting individuals who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Your responsibilities will include conducting assessments, providing coaching, and advocating for clients while connecting them to essential services.
This position also involves supporting the Winter Night Shelter initiative, ensuring that individuals utilizing the shelter have pathways to resolve their homelessness in a sustainable manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish and maintain collaborative, supportive relationships with clients, colleagues, and partner organizations.
- Empower clients to take proactive steps in their housing search and overall well-being.
- Manage a caseload effectively, adhering to the Crisis Case Management Framework.
- Assist clients with practical needs related to housing, benefits, and other relevant support services.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- A strong commitment to ending homelessness.
- In-depth knowledge of housing access through various sectors, including private rentals and local authorities.
- Understanding of the challenges faced by homeless individuals, including trauma and social isolation.
- Experience in utilizing coaching and psychologically informed approaches with those experiencing homelessness.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively and build networks.
- Adaptability and flexibility in a changing environment.
- Strong teamwork skills and the ability to reflect on personal practice.
- Experience in voluntary or statutory sectors, particularly with marginalized communities.
