Job Title: Senior Buyer

Location: Remote

Overview:

The Senior Buyer position is pivotal in overseeing the management of new procurement initiatives throughout our supply chain, from initial inquiry to the launch of production orders. This role demands a meticulous professional with exceptional communication and relationship management skills, capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment to meet production requirements. The Senior Buyer will play a crucial role in influencing purchasing decisions early in the process to secure optimal terms regarding quality, cost, and delivery, which will directly impact the Procurement strategy and the department's performance targets.

Performance Objectives:

  • Minimize the setup time for new vendors
  • Reduce material price variance against quoted prices
  • Achieve a high rate of first-time accuracy in RFQs
  • Ensure timely submission of RFQs

Key Responsibilities:

Communication:

  • Establish and nurture supplier relationships, ensuring clear communication regarding daily procurement activities.
  • Collaborate with suppliers during the tender review process to guarantee accurate information is exchanged and optimal solutions are provided.
  • Engage with the broader team when making supplier selection decisions.
  • Clearly articulate tender reviews with Procurement and Commercial teams, presenting multiple business cases to deliver the best supply chain solutions.
  • Communicate effectively with customers as necessary during supply chain decision-making, supporting both the Procurement and Commercial Managers.
  • Escalate unresolved issues to the Procurement Manager.

Quality Assurance:

  • Thoroughly evaluate RFQ tenders to ensure that the proposed solutions align with expectations.
  • Accurately complete quote documentation to capture all relevant pricing, lead times, and delivery charges without hidden costs.
  • Review and, if necessary, establish new vendors prior to the launch of production orders, ensuring all terms are correct.
  • Update the system with accurate vendor and pricing information before production order initiation to ensure proper procurement activities.
  • Coordinate with the team regarding any additions to the Bill of Materials at the point of New Product Introduction to ensure timely ordering.

Cost Management:

  • Collaborate with current and potential suppliers to negotiate cost reductions.
  • Negotiate pricing and terms during tender reviews to ensure suppliers offer the best conditions.
  • Challenge and defer cost increases from suppliers through effective negotiation.
  • Identify strategies to enhance purchasing power with selected suppliers to achieve better terms and potential cost reductions.
  • Ensure payment terms are favorable and align with or exceed standard practices when onboarding new vendors.
  • Negotiate advantageous terms and rebate agreements when applicable for new products.
  • Work closely with the commercial team to manage pricing variations and ensure they are communicated to customers throughout project phases.

Delivery Management:

  • Maintain accurate lead time information in the system to ensure procurement activities align with customer expectations.
  • Agree upon and manage procurement RFQ deadlines upon receipt of inquiries to ensure compliance.

Team Collaboration:

  • Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to foster effective working relationships.
  • Participate in training and team-building activities to promote cross-functional collaboration.
  • Support and facilitate project work as required.
  • Exemplify core company values.

Working Hours:

  • 8:00 AM - 5:15 PM, Monday to Thursday
  • 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM, Friday
