Overview:

The Senior Buyer position is pivotal in overseeing the management of new procurement initiatives throughout our supply chain, from initial inquiry to the launch of production orders. The Senior Buyer will influence purchasing decisions early in the process to secure optimal terms concerning quality, cost, and delivery, directly contributing to the Procurement strategy and departmental objectives.

Performance Objectives:

  • Minimize the setup time for new vendors
  • Reduce material cost discrepancies against quoted prices
  • Achieve a high rate of first-time accuracy in RFQs
  • Ensure adherence to RFQ deadlines

Key Responsibilities:

Communication:

  • Establish and nurture supplier relationships, ensuring clear communication regarding daily procurement activities.
  • Collaborate with suppliers during the tender review process to guarantee accurate information and optimal solutions.
  • Coordinate with the broader team when making supplier selection decisions.
  • Present clear and concise evaluations of tenders to the Procurement and Commercial teams, offering multiple business cases to provide the best supply chain solutions.
  • Engage with customers as necessary during supply chain decision-making and support the Procurement and Commercial Manager as needed.
  • Escalate unresolved issues to the Procurement Manager.

Quality Assurance:

  • Thoroughly assess RFQ tenders to ensure alignment with expectations.
  • Accurately complete quote documentation to capture all pricing, lead times, and associated costs transparently.
  • Review and, if necessary, establish new vendors before launching production orders, ensuring all terms are correct.
  • Update the business system prior to production order launch with accurate vendor and pricing information.
  • Collaborate with the team when items are added to the Bill of Materials to ensure timely ordering in line with customer demand.

Cost Management:

  • Engage with current and potential suppliers to negotiate cost reductions.
  • Negotiate pricing and terms during tender reviews to ensure suppliers provide competitive offers.
  • Reject or defer cost increases from suppliers through effective negotiation.
  • Identify strategies to enhance purchasing power with selected suppliers, resulting in better terms and potential cost savings.
  • Ensure payment terms meet or exceed standard practices when establishing new vendor relationships.
  • Negotiate favorable terms and rebate agreements for new products when applicable.
  • Work closely with the commercial team to manage pricing variations and ensure transparency with customers throughout project development.

Delivery Management:

  • Maintain accurate lead time information in the business system to align procurement activities with customer expectations.
  • Set and manage procurement RFQ deadlines upon receipt of inquiries to ensure compliance.

Team Collaboration:

  • Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to foster strong working relationships.
  • Participate in training and team-building activities to promote cross-functional collaboration.
  • Support project initiatives as required.
  • Exemplify core company values in all interactions.

Working Hours:

  • 8:00 AM - 5:15 PM, Monday to Thursday
  • 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM, Friday
