About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Financial Manager to join our team at Poundland. As a key member of our Financial Accounts team, you will be responsible for leading a small number of colleagues and contributing to the success of our business.

This senior role will involve leading a team of accountants, managing key financial processes, and providing strategic support to our business. You will have primary responsibility for a significant proportion of our Profit and Loss Account, and the integrity of important Balance Sheet accounts.

You will be involved in various aspects of our financial operations, including financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting. You will also be responsible for managing our sales ledger, month-end accruals, and prepayments.

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Financial Director who can lead our team and contribute to our business growth. You will have excellent interpersonal skills, be able to work logically and accurately, and have robust modelling and analytical skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a small number of colleagues in the Financial Accounts team
  • Manage key financial processes, including financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting
  • Take responsibility for a significant proportion of our Profit and Loss Account and Balance Sheet accounts
  • Manage our sales ledger, month-end accruals, and prepayments
  • Support the introduction of store level profit & loss accounts
  • Take ownership for a number of critical Balance Sheet reconciliations
  • Ensure that Balance Sheet control accounts are fully reconciled and that risks and opportunities are quantified and reported on a monthly basis
  • Support the continued optimisation of our financial systems
  • Business partnering with key stakeholders across Finance and other departments

Requirements:

  • Professional Qualification (e.g. CIMA, ACCA, ACA)
  • Oracle Fusion experience advantageous
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to forge positive working relationships
  • Ability to work logically, consistently and accurately
  • Robust modelling and analytical skills
  • Ability to lead annual audit processes and deliver robust and timely month-ends
