The Role: Community Health Advocate

As a Community Health Advocate with MSF UK, you will play a vital role in bridging the gap between our medical teams and the communities we serve. You will be responsible for developing and implementing health promotion strategies that address a wide range of public health challenges.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough assessments to understand local behaviors, practices, and cultural norms that may contribute to disease transmission or health disparities.
  • Design and deliver impactful Information Education Communication (IEC) campaigns on various health topics, including maternal health, malnutrition, infectious diseases, and sexual violence prevention.
  • Collaborate with local communities to identify their needs and priorities, ensuring that our interventions are culturally sensitive and relevant.
  • Build the capacity of local healthcare workers and community leaders through training and mentorship programs.
  • Work closely with medical teams to integrate health promotion activities into existing healthcare programs.
Requirements
  • A formal education in Anthropology, Sociology, or a related social science field.
  • Minimum two years of experience working in the field of Health Education and Promotion.
  • Proven experience in community engagement and capacity building.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in challenging environments and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Fluency in English is essential. Proficiency in French or Arabic is highly desirable.

  • Familiarity with tropical diseases and infectious disease control.
  • Previous experience working with NGOs, particularly in unstable environments.
