Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Surgical Equipment Coordinator to collaborate closely with our surgical team and broader Sterile Services Support Unit (TSSU) teams. The primary objective is to guarantee a consistent and dependable supply of sterile services at all times, fostering a strong working relationship with the TSSU Hub.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the main point of contact for all communications regarding the provision of sterile equipment from the TSSU Hub.
  • Ensure accurate scanning of all equipment entering and exiting the healthcare facility.
  • Provide expert support and knowledge of Sterile Services during operational hours.
  • Verify that all necessary equipment for upcoming surgical procedures is available in the Operating Theatre and suitable for use; if not, coordinate arrangements for the timely supply of any outstanding items.
  • Oversee the completion, receipt, and dispatch of all documentation related to the provision of a responsive service, including Quality Forms and Loan Kit information.
  • Participate in theatre scheduling meetings to ensure that the inventory of equipment meets the anticipated workload, advising theatre staff of any potential issues or unrealistic expectations.
  • Ensure accurate tracking of used surgical instruments and timely updates to the sterile pack tracking system.
  • Assist with the management and ordering processes of theatre stores, including loan kits and related administrative tasks as needed.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Proficient in utilizing IT systems that support service operations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Experience in proactive planning and organization.
  • Background in a surgical department is essential.
  • Familiarity with a variety of surgical instruments and sets is required.
