Overview

As we expand our Engineering team, we are seeking an Equipment Maintenance Specialist who will play a crucial role in the enhancement of one of McCormick's primary manufacturing sites. This position will focus on monitoring production lines, diagnosing issues, and employing problem-solving techniques to optimize the use of all company machinery and equipment, thereby reducing downtime through scheduled, planned, or emergency maintenance, as well as continuous improvement initiatives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Continuously evaluate company machinery and equipment for efficiency and effectiveness, implementing enhancements to optimize output and address non-compliance issues. Contribute to reducing the company's environmental impact by optimizing resource use, energy consumption, and waste management. Collaborate closely with the production team to ensure timely plant operations. Adhere to safety protocols, complying with Health and Safety regulations. Analyze production schedules and estimate work hour requirements for task completion. Coordinate with other supervisors and technicians to synchronize activities. Prepare cost estimates, requisitions, and conduct equipment inspections. Manage minor projects and assist with larger initiatives. Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with industry standards. Understand and uphold responsibilities related to food safety regulations. Work alongside Production and Quality teams to enhance operational practices, improving product quality and customer satisfaction. Ensure adherence to Company Quality, Food Safety, Health & Safety, and Environmental policies. Organize work tasks to prevent product contamination. Safeguard the integrity of our products at all times. Oversee the activities of external Engineers, Contractors, and Vendors. Complete all assigned tasks promptly and meet deadlines. Maintain a flexible approach to all Engineering responsibilities, including covering for other Engineering roles as needed.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Minimum NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant Engineering discipline. Experience in the food or consumer products sector, demonstrating a strong track record of acquiring Engineering skills and a commitment to continuous learning. A solid understanding of interdisciplinary skills and a preference for multi-skilling. A foundational knowledge of safe food handling practices. Familiarity with HACCP, PUWER, LOLA, and COSHH is preferred. Proficient in AC/DC drives and related control systems. Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of engaging with both suppliers and internal stakeholders. Computer literate, with experience in MS Word, Lotus Notes, and Excel. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities. Capable of interpreting schematic diagrams. Able to work independently and identify opportunities for Continuous Improvement. A positive and enthusiastic attitude towards work and teamwork. Possess the energy and determination to complete tasks efficiently.
