Equipment Maintenance Specialist

Location: Peterborough

Work Schedule: Rotating Panama Shifts (Day and Night)

This role presents an excellent opportunity to become part of our dedicated team, contributing to the operational excellence of our condiment production facility. Our goal is to establish a sustainable and innovative manufacturing environment that supports our Flavour Solutions clientele.

As we expand our Engineering team, we are seeking an Equipment Maintenance Specialist who will play a crucial role in the enhancement of one of our primary manufacturing sites. This position entails monitoring production lines, diagnosing issues, and employing problem-solving techniques to optimize the use of all company machinery and equipment, thereby reducing downtime through scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, as well as ongoing improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Continuously evaluate the efficiency and purpose of company machinery and implement enhancements to maximize output while addressing any non-compliance issues.
  • Contribute to minimizing the company's environmental impact by optimizing resource usage, including energy consumption and waste management.
  • Collaborate closely with the production team to ensure timely plant operations.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and comply with Health and Safety regulations.
  • Analyze production timelines and estimate the required work hours for task completion.
  • Coordinate with other supervisors and technicians to synchronize activities.
  • Prepare cost estimates, requisitions, and conduct equipment inspections.
  • Oversee minor projects and assist with larger initiatives.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Understand and uphold responsibilities related to food safety regulations, including HACCP.
  • Work alongside Production and Quality teams to refine operational practices, enhancing product quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure adherence to Company Quality, Food Safety, Health & Safety, and Environmental policies.
  • Organize work tasks to prevent product contamination.
  • Guarantee the integrity of our products is maintained at all times.
  • Coordinate activities with external Engineers, Contractors, and Vendors.
  • Complete all assigned tasks promptly and meet deadlines.
  • Exhibit flexibility in all Engineering responsibilities, including covering for other Engineering roles as needed.

Candidate Qualifications

  • Minimum NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant Engineering discipline.
  • Experience in the food or consumer products sector, demonstrating a solid track record of acquiring Engineering skills and a commitment to continuous learning.
  • Familiarity with interdisciplinary skills and a preference for multi-skilling.
  • Strong foundation in safe food handling practices.
  • Awareness of HACCP, PUWER, LOLA, and COSHH regulations is preferred.
  • Proficient knowledge of AC/DC drives and related control systems.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, capable of engaging with both suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Proficient in PC applications, including MS Word, Lotus Notes, and Excel Spreadsheets.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Able to interpret technical diagrams.
  • Capable of working independently and identifying opportunities for Continuous Improvement.
  • Exhibit a positive and enthusiastic approach to work and teamwork.
  • Possess the energy and determination to accomplish tasks efficiently.
