Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Equipment Maintenance Specialist to join our dynamic team. This role is essential in ensuring the operational efficiency of our manufacturing facility.

Location: Shift Pattern: Rotating shifts (days and nights)

This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the advancement of our production capabilities at McCormick & Company, Inc. Our goal is to create a sustainable and innovative manufacturing environment that supports our diverse customer base.

As part of our expanding Engineering team, the Equipment Maintenance Specialist will play a crucial role in the maintenance and optimization of our production lines. Responsibilities include monitoring equipment performance, troubleshooting issues, and implementing effective maintenance strategies to minimize downtime and enhance productivity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular assessments of machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Implement strategies to reduce environmental impact through efficient resource management and waste reduction.
  • Collaborate closely with production teams to facilitate smooth operations and timely equipment readiness.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Analyze production schedules to estimate work hours required for maintenance tasks.
  • Coordinate with other engineering staff to synchronize maintenance activities.
  • Prepare maintenance estimates and requisitions, and oversee equipment inspections.
  • Manage minor projects and assist with larger initiatives as needed.
  • Perform regular audits to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of food safety regulations and practices.
  • Work alongside Production and Quality teams to enhance operational practices and product quality.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies regarding quality, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Organize maintenance activities to prevent product contamination.
  • Ensure the integrity and safety of products throughout the maintenance process.
  • Oversee the activities of external contractors and vendors as necessary.
  • Complete all assigned tasks efficiently and meet established deadlines.
  • Maintain a flexible approach to various engineering responsibilities, including covering for other roles as required.

Candidate Qualifications

  • Minimum NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Proven experience in the food or consumer products sector, demonstrating a strong foundation in engineering skills and continuous improvement.
  • Familiarity with multi-disciplinary skills and a preference for cross-training.
  • Solid understanding of safe food handling practices.
  • Knowledge of HACCP, PUWER, LOLA, and COSHH is advantageous.
  • Proficient in AC/DC drives and related control systems.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage effectively with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Competent in using computer applications, including MS Word, Excel, and other relevant software.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Capable of interpreting technical diagrams and schematics.
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to identifying improvement opportunities.
  • Positive and collaborative attitude, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated energy and commitment to completing tasks efficiently.
