Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Surgical Equipment Coordinator to collaborate closely with our surgical team and the broader TSSU teams. The primary objective is to guarantee that the provision of sterile services remains consistent and seamless at all times. Building a robust working relationship with the TSSU Hub is essential.

Key Responsibilities

As a Surgical Equipment Coordinator, your responsibilities will include:

  • Serving as the main point of contact for all communications regarding the supply of sterile equipment from the TSSU Hub.
  • Ensuring precise scanning of all equipment in and out of the facility.
  • Providing expert support and knowledge of sterile services during operational hours.
  • Verifying that all equipment required for upcoming surgical procedures is available in the Operating Theatre and in optimal condition; coordinating arrangements for any missing items.
  • Managing the completion, receipt, and dispatch of all documentation related to service provision, including Quality Forms and Loan Kit information.
  • Actively participating in theatre scheduling meetings to ensure adequate inventory levels to meet the anticipated workload, while advising theatre staff on potential issues or unrealistic expectations.
  • Overseeing the accurate tracking of used surgical instruments and ensuring timely updates to the HESSDA system (the sterile pack tracking system).
  • Assisting with the management and ordering processes of theatre supplies, including loan kits and related administrative tasks as needed.

Qualifications and Skills

To excel in this role, candidates should possess:

  • The ability to learn and utilize IT systems that support service operations, such as Health Edge.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to foster effective working relationships.
  • Experience in proactive planning and organization.
  • A background in a theatre department is preferred.
  • Familiarity with various surgical instruments and sets.
