Family Support Social Worker

Hello, I am Jenifer Dewar, the Assistant Director for Family Support at Norfolk County Council. We are recognized as a 'Good' authority with 'exceptional leadership', and we take pride in our Social Work Teams, valuing every practitioner.

This is a remarkable opportunity to become part of the frontline Social Work teams at Norfolk, following the introduction of our innovative operating model. Family Support aligns with the objectives outlined in the National Children's Social Care Review and the Government's response, Stable Homes Built on Love (2023). It enhances successful strategies that have benefited our children, families, and practitioners in Norfolk for an extended period. We are on the verge of implementing this approach across the county after a successful trial phase.

Family Support comprises multi-disciplinary teams collaborating to address the needs of children, fostering a culture that emphasizes relationships, direct engagement, and extended family networks to create lasting change. Our family support teams consist of 22 practitioners, including seven or eight social workers, along with family support workers, specialized practitioners, assistant managers, and team managers. Cases are managed collectively by the prevention and protection teams, ensuring families receive targeted interventions at an early stage, which significantly improves outcomes for our children and families. This approach has also yielded substantial benefits for our Social Workers, including reduced intervention times and paperwork.

We are seeking qualified Social Workers registered with Social Work England, experienced in Child Protection, Assessments, and Court Work, who excel as team players and share our vision of achieving the best possible outcomes for children and families.
