This is a pivotal moment to become part of the frontline Social Work teams at Norfolk, following the introduction of our innovative operating model. The Family Support initiative aligns with the goals outlined in the National Children's Social Care Review and the Government's response, Stable Homes Built on Love (2023). It enhances the successful strategies we have implemented for our children, families, and practitioners in Norfolk over the years. We are on the verge of rolling out this approach across the county after a successful trial period.

The Family Support teams consist of multi-disciplinary professionals collaborating to address the needs of children within a framework that emphasizes relationships, direct engagement, and extended family networks to foster sustainable change. Our teams include 22 practitioners, with seven or eight being social workers, complemented by family support workers, specialized practitioners, assistant managers, and team managers. Cases are managed collectively by the prevention and protection teams, ensuring families receive targeted interventions at an early stage, which significantly improves outcomes for our children and families. This approach has also yielded remarkable benefits for our Social Workers, including reduced intervention times and less paperwork.
