Role Overview

As an Assistant Vice President in Finance Controls at Barclays, you will engage with a comprehensive range of Finance disciplines throughout the entire lifecycle of Entities and Finance Transaction Cycles. This encompasses areas such as financial and regulatory reporting, Treasury operations, Product Control, Valuations, and Planning & Stress Testing. You will be an integral part of a collaborative global team, interacting with various stakeholders both within and outside of Barclays. This role presents an exciting opportunity to gain extensive experience that can significantly enhance your career trajectory.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with diverse stakeholders across the organization to enhance overall control effectiveness through meticulous documentation of control assessments, procedures, and findings.
  • Identify and investigate potential weaknesses and issues within internal controls to foster continuous improvement and risk mitigation in alignment with the bank's control framework, prioritizing based on severity.
  • Develop comprehensive reports to communicate key findings from risk assessments, including control weaknesses and recommendations to control owners, senior management, and other stakeholders.
  • Conduct reviews to evaluate the effectiveness of the bank's internal controls framework in accordance with established and evolving policies, regulations, and best practices.
  • Ensure adherence to the Barclays Controls Framework and establish appropriate methodologies for assessing controls against this framework.
Expectations for the Assistant Vice President
  • Provide consultation on complex issues, offering guidance to People Leaders to aid in resolving escalated matters.
  • Identify strategies to mitigate risk and develop new policies and procedures to support the control and governance agenda.
  • Take ownership of managing risk and enhancing controls related to your work.
  • Engage in tasks closely related to other areas, necessitating an understanding of how these areas coordinate and contribute to the organization's objectives.
  • Collaborate with various work areas to stay informed about business activities and strategies.
  • Perform complex data analysis from multiple internal and external sources, creatively solving problems.
  • Effectively communicate complex information, which may include sensitive content or information that is challenging to convey due to its nature or audience.
  • Influence stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes.
