Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Corporate Lawyer to join our Group Corporate & Treasury Legal (GCTL) team at Barclays. In this pivotal role, you will provide expert legal guidance and effective business collaboration to our core clients, including Corporate Secretariat, Finance, Investor Relations, Treasury, and Risk. As a Vice President within the corporate sub-team, a solid understanding of English company law and matters related to an ESCC (Commercial Company with equity shares) is essential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and manage transactional processes, ensuring adherence to legal and regulatory standards while maintaining precise documentation for financial transactions.
  • Ensure that Transaction Services and Documentation activities comply with relevant laws and regulations, aiding the bank in managing legal and reputational risks.
  • Coordinate with both internal and external stakeholders, including legal counsel and credit risk management, to facilitate timely and efficient transaction execution.
  • Create, review, negotiate, and manage legal documents such as loan agreements and security documents, ensuring timely execution.
  • Provide transaction support, including preparing transaction summaries and conducting due diligence.
  • Develop and implement transaction processes and procedures to ensure consistent execution.
  • Proactively identify and communicate legal advice on applicable laws, rules, and regulations, staying updated on changes in the relevant coverage area.
Expectations for the Vice President Role
  • Advise key stakeholders, including functional leadership teams and senior management, on areas of functional and cross-functional impact.
  • Manage and mitigate risks through thorough assessment, supporting the control and governance agenda.
  • Demonstrate leadership and accountability in managing risk and enhancing controls related to team activities.
  • Exhibit a comprehensive understanding of organizational functions to contribute to business goals.
  • Collaborate with various departments to stay aligned with business activities and strategies.
  • Develop solutions through sophisticated analytical thinking, comparing and selecting complex alternatives.
  • Incorporate extensive research outcomes into problem-solving processes.
  • Build and maintain trusting relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve key business objectives, utilizing influencing and negotiating skills.
