Job Overview

As the Senior Manager of Performance for Urgent and Emergency Care at NHS England, the incumbent will collaborate within a proactive team to ensure the delivery and assurance of superior UEC services across the region. This role necessitates a strong partnership with the Head of UEC Performance to maintain a consistent alignment of performance and improvement objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing all essential business submissions, including strategic planning and workforce documentation.
  • Creating and executing systems to guarantee effective information management and the dissemination of best practices throughout the team, Directorate, and relevant NHS organizations.
  • Leading the coordination of training, development, and recruitment initiatives within the Department.
  • Managing and supervising all facets of the Department's financial resources.

Main Duties:

  • Facilitating the execution of the UEC recovery strategy through performance oversight.
  • Supporting the establishment and monitoring of the UEC recovery framework to ensure comprehensive regional oversight and the successful realization of complex outcomes through a structured program approach, which encompasses goal setting, resource management, risk assessment, and performance metrics.
  • Maintaining productive relationships with all stakeholders, including directors, managers, and clinicians, while providing support to project and workstream leaders across the region.
  • Ensuring the delivery of governance and reporting mechanisms to furnish program assurance to all stakeholders, including regular comprehensive updates to the Programme Board with actionable recommendations.
  • Handling multiple information requests with tight deadlines, designing and implementing systems to maintain a clear understanding of program performance and delivery challenges across the NHS in the South East, ensuring effective utilization of the program assurance framework.

This role is integral to the Chief Operating Officer Directorate, which is responsible for leading operational performance and improvement initiatives across the Southeast Region. The Directorate focuses on:

  • Monitoring performance against annual operational plans and constitutional standards.
  • Providing tailored improvement support to systems via a virtual improvement hub to enhance overall performance and minimize unwarranted clinical variation.
  • Coordinating regional operational planning and assurance.
  • Ensuring the effective and efficient use of resources throughout the health service.
