Job Overview

We are pleased to announce an opportunity for a 12-month fixed-term position in Emergency Medicine. The selected candidates will become part of a dedicated team of senior clinical fellows specializing in Emergency Medicine. This role is tailored for individuals with a minimum of 2 years of postgraduate experience in emergency medicine, seeking to enhance their expertise in a well-supported teaching hospital and major trauma center environment.

The successful candidate will integrate into a collaborative, highly motivated, consultant-led team that provides exceptional emergency care. The department handles a comprehensive range of emergencies, catering to a significant patient volume each year.

Key Responsibilities

The position encompasses registrar (ST3+) level responsibilities within the emergency department, operating on a full shift rota. Clinical duties are backed by 24/7 consultant availability, senior training registrars, and a supportive team of junior doctors and practitioners.

This role includes 20% of non-clinical time dedicated to quality improvement and service enhancement initiatives in emergency care. All clinical fellow positions ensure equitable clinical supervision, development, and training opportunities comparable to training posts.

Many of our former fellows have successfully transitioned into national training posts in emergency medicine, as well as pursuing fellowships with various emergency response units.

Candidates must possess full registration with the GMC and hold a license to practice, along with relevant NHS experience.

Qualifications

Essential Criteria

  • MBBS, MBChB or equivalent degree
  • Full MRCEM or equivalent
  • Completion of life support courses such as ALS, ATLS/ETC, APLS, etc.

Desirable Criteria

  • FRCEM

Experience

Essential Criteria

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Emergency Medicine and/or related specialties, with some experience in the NHS
  • At least 3 months of experience in Anaesthetics and/or ITU services

Knowledge

  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently when necessary
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Demonstrates care, compassion, and respect towards patients and colleagues

  • Effective communication skills with patients and colleagues
  • Proficient in producing clear and concise clinical documentation, including structured clinical coding
