Birmingham, Birmingham, United Kingdom The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Position Overview

The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking applications from dedicated and qualified professionals for the role of Advanced Clinical Fellow in Podiatric Surgery. This position is designed for individuals with a solid foundation in Foot and Ankle surgery.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should ideally possess the FRCS or an equivalent qualification. This role is tailored to provide specialized training for those who have completed a UK training program and hold a CCT or have undergone an equivalent training pathway.

Training Opportunities

This position, which includes extensive theatre time, offers a remarkable opportunity for hands-on surgical training in Foot and Ankle surgery. The Fellow will engage with innovative techniques under NICE guidelines, including sinus tarsi implant application and percutaneous bunion surgery, alongside arthroscopic fusions, complex osteotomies, and joint replacements.

Depending on their experience, the Fellow may have the chance to lead supervised operating lists and participate in outpatient clinics. There will also be opportunities for research and audit involvement, with a significant emphasis on contributing to ongoing or new research projects. The Fellow is expected to present findings and produce publications based on their work.

Main Responsibilities

The Fellow will have the opportunity to attend meetings of the Heart of England Foot and Ankle Society, which includes consultant Foot and Ankle surgeons from the region.

All facets of Elective Foot & Ankle Surgery, including Pediatric Foot and Ankle issues, are addressed. While the current schedule does not include participation in Pediatric Clinics, arrangements can be made upon request.

Specific attachments will be discussed with the successful candidate during the interview process, ensuring alignment with their special interests or training requirements.

The Fellow will also be responsible for organizing bimonthly problem case meetings and will engage in teaching medical students.
