Position Overview

We invite applications for the Fellowship in Cardiac Surgery and Cardiopulmonary Transplantation. This role is designed for individuals aiming to enhance their expertise in adult cardiac surgery and advanced heart and lung failure methodologies, including cardiopulmonary transplantation, mechanical circulatory support, and donor organ retrieval.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be engaged in a dual-role structure, alternating between conventional cardiac surgical duties and advanced heart and lung failure strategies on a bi-weekly basis.

  • Provide comprehensive in-patient and out-patient care for pre-operative, operative, and post-operative conventional cardiac surgical patients, which includes conducting ward rounds and participating in residential on-call duties.
  • Support the management of advanced heart and lung failure patients, which involves attending ward rounds, obtaining consent, and participating in multidisciplinary team assessments.
  • Contribute to the Department's obligations for organ retrieval services, adhering to established guidelines for conducting organ retrievals independently and in collaboration with other surgical professionals.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential Requirements:

  • MB ChB or equivalent qualification.
  • Current registration with the General Medical Council (GMC).
  • Experience in Cardio Thoracic Surgery.
  • Demonstrated competencies equivalent to the role.
