About the Role

We are seeking highly motivated and skilled Junior Specialist Doctors (registrar level) to join our renowned Cardiac Surgical Service at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham. This state-of-the-art facility is one of the largest in the UK, offering a comprehensive range of medical and surgical specialties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate actively in all aspects of cardiac surgery, including pre-, intra-, and post-operative care.
  • Provide direct patient care under the guidance of experienced consultant staff.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including cardiothoracic surgeons, intensive care specialists, and anaesthetists.
  • Contribute to the management of cardiac patients in the Critical Care Unit, adhering to established protocols and guidelines.
  • Assist in surgical procedures and receive comprehensive operative training from consultants.
  • Engage in administrative duties, including communication and audit activities.

Qualifications and Experience

  • MB ChB or equivalent medical degree.
  • Registration with the General Medical Council (GMC).
  • Proven experience in cardiothoracic surgery, demonstrating a strong understanding of surgical principles and techniques.
