About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Paediatric Hepatobiliary and Transplant Surgeon to join our team at Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Liver Unit, you will be responsible for providing high-quality surgical care to children with complex liver and intestinal conditions, including liver transplantation and hepatobiliary surgery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake paediatric liver, bowel, renal, and multi-visceral transplants and related activities
  • Develop and implement treatment plans for patients with complex liver and intestinal conditions
  • Work closely with the organ procurement team to ensure seamless care for patients
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient care and treatment plans
  • Conduct audits and support quality improvement programmes to ensure high-quality patient care
Requirements
  • Eligible for inclusion on the Specialist Register as a Paediatric Surgeon
  • FRCS or equivalent by examination
  • Experience in paediatric transplant surgery, including liver splitting and reduction, and multi-organ retrieval and management of complications
  • Experience in small bowel transplantation
  • Experience in paediatric hepatobiliary surgery
  • Experience in research, publications, and audit
