About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Paediatric Hepatobiliary Surgeon to join our team at Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking paediatric Liver, Bowel, Renal and Multi-visceral transplants and related activities, as well as paediatric HPB surgery.

Main Duties

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Undertake paediatric Liver, Bowel, Renal and Multi-visceral transplants and related activities
  • Undertake paediatric HPB surgery
  • Participate in the development of Normothermic Regional Perfusion organ procurement, application of new graft ex-vivo perfusion techniques and the living donor programmes
  • Participate in the on-call rotas for the Liver Unit

Person Specification

The successful candidate will have:

  • GMC Registration / Eligible for inclusion on Specialist Register as Paediatric Surgeon
  • FRCS or equivalent by examination
  • Experience in Paediatric transplant surgery, including liver splitting & reduction and multi-organ retrieval and management of complications
  • Experience in Small Bowel Transplantation
  • Experience in Paediatric hepatobiliary surgery
  • Experience in research, publications and audit
