Job Overview

The successful candidate will oversee the clinical and operational management of the Directorate, collaborating with General Managers and Matrons to ensure that clinical, business, and operational performance metrics are met.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership and Performance

  • Provide strategic clinical insights and offer guidance to the Chief of Service, Chief Executive, Executive Directors, and Trust Board.
  • Plan and manage service delivery while contributing to strategic planning processes, aligning Directorate Service Plans with Trust and broader Health Economy objectives.
  • Establish and implement a clinical audit function within the Directorate, adhering to the organization's overall clinical governance framework.
  • Efficiently manage resources to maintain financial stability within the Directorate.
  • Ensure that patient access targets are met by optimizing service capacity and demand.
  • Collaborate closely with the Chief to oversee all medical annual leave and sickness within the Directorate, ensuring compliance with Trust policies.

Management Clinical Director

Essential Criteria

  • Demonstrated success as a Clinical Leader.
  • Knowledge of Trust policies and their practical application.
  • Ability to manage both consultant and non-career grade medical staff.
  • Willingness to serve as a consultant appraiser.

Desirable Criteria

  • Training in Clinical Leadership and/or Medical Management.
  • Experience as a consultant appraiser.

Governance

Essential Criteria

  • Knowledge of the Trust's clinical governance processes.
  • Understanding of Clinical Risk Management principles.
  • Willingness to investigate complaints and adverse clinical incidents.

  • Proven achievements in Clinical Governance.
