Mental Health Care Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Nurse Practitioner to join our multidisciplinary care team at Kent & Medway NHS & Social Care Partnership Trust. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for assessing, planning, delivering, and evaluating care to promote health and best practices, patient safety, and experience.
Main Responsibilities- Act as a Practice Assessor, supporting student nurses' learning and development through assessment and feedback.
- Comply with NMC registration, revalidation, and Code of Conduct standards.
- Support the implementation of nursing strategies and adhere to KMPT policies and values.
- Identify, report, and respond to safeguarding concerns.
- Prioritize patient safety through safe practice, risk management, and incident reporting.
- Provide holistic care, including education, medication management, and support for patients and their carers.
- Supervise staff, manage workloads, and undertake specific clinical responsibilities as required.

Person Specification- RMN or RNLD.
- Qualified Practice Assessor (or working towards becoming a Practice Assessor if still in the first year of registration).
- Evidence of training/further study/or prepared to within the addiction specialty.
- Experience of Mental Health/Learning Disabilities settings and/or working with people with Mental Health/Learning Disabilities conditions.
- Previous experience of working within the NHS.
- Experience of Psychotherapies, counselling, group facilitation, or motivational interviewing.
- Basic knowledge of and ability to apply relevant legislative frameworks and policies relating to care, Mental Capacity Act.
- Knowledge and understanding of the NMC Code of Conduct.
- Basic understanding in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care.
- To pass medication and physical health competencies.
- A basic understanding and ability to apply principles of risk assessment and risk management.
- Basic awareness of clinical governance and its relationship to clinical effectiveness and patient safety and patient experience.
- Effective organisational/planning and decision-making skills.
- Good knowledge and practice of IT skills.
- Basic leadership skills taking charge, delegation of duties, supervising others.
- To participate in Quality Improvement, Audits, Research, etc.
