Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced and driven Global Oil & Gas Business Development Lead to spearhead the identification, evaluation, and execution of strategic business ventures within the energy sector. This role demands a visionary leader with a proven track record in developing and managing complex projects, coupled with a comprehensive understanding of the global oil and gas landscape.
Responsibilities:
- Business Development Strategy & Execution:
• Lead the full business development lifecycle, from initial opportunity identification to deal closure, encompassing proposal validation, prioritization against investment criteria, and commercial/technical solution development.
• Collaborate with investors to establish strategic financial and operational goals and milestones for new ventures. - Transaction Management & Due Diligence:
• Review investor proposals, approve contract payments within authorized limits, and manage variations. Serve as the primary point of contact for contractors, consultants, and vendors.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders (e.g., legal, finance, strategy planning) to ensure seamless deal alignment and progression. - Portfolio Management & Negotiation:
• Lead business portfolios, develop commercial agreements, and provide analysis in reviewing legal documents (e.g., head of terms, MoUs, cost-sharing and shareholders agreements, product offtake, share services, etc.). Develop and execute negotiation strategies.
• Prepare, review, and present compelling briefs to corporate committees and executives. - Team Leadership & Development:
• Provide administrative direction to the Business Development team, including performance appraisals, promotion recommendations, and relevant human resources development initiatives. Ensure meticulous documentation of all business venture development activities.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 12 years of experience in business development, with a proven track record in the oil and gas industry.
- Relevant professional certifications (e.g., CFA, CMA, PMP) are highly desirable.
- Demonstrated expertise in financial analysis, company valuation, and transaction structuring within the energy sector.
- Strong understanding of local and international best practices, regulatory frameworks, and governmental mandates relevant to oil and gas operations.
