Position Overview

As a key member of the GroupM EMEA team, the Risk & Controls Manager will play a pivotal role in ensuring the integrity and effectiveness of our compliance and risk management frameworks. This position is crucial for fostering a culture of ethics and accountability across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advocate for and instill a culture of ethics and integrity within the region by providing training and guidance on critical topics such as anti-bribery, internal controls, and compliance with internal policies.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in risk and controls, offering strategic insights and support to local markets.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across the R&C team and local markets, collaborating effectively with colleagues throughout GroupM and WPP.
  • Assist in the design and execution of financial, operational, and compliance controls that align with the WPP Internal Control framework.
  • Develop and implement ongoing quality review and control monitoring programs as a secondary line of defense for the markets supported.
  • Identify and promote opportunities for continuous improvement, leveraging technology to address evolving challenges.
  • Communicate updates and changes to WPP and GroupM policies and control requirements clearly and effectively.
  • Provide support and guidance on strategic initiatives requiring controls implementation to ensure ongoing success.
  • Strategically assess business operations to create sustainable solutions that enhance the control environment and streamline processes.
  • Coordinate audit and compliance efforts with relevant teams, ensuring effective communication with internal and external audit entities.
  • Oversee internal control and risk management activities, including business risk assessments and internal control self-certifications.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in risk and controls, compliance, business process improvement, or audit.

Required Skills

  • Proficient in SOX compliance, IFRS, and PCAOB standards.
  • Skilled in assessing business risks and evaluating the effectiveness of internal control systems.
  • Proven ability to foster business relationships while ensuring compliance.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Adaptable and willing to take on new projects and responsibilities.
  • Competent in Excel and other relevant software.

Preferred Skills

  • Proficiency in additional languages is a plus, given our operations across multiple countries.
