Job Overview

As the Head of Cardiac Services Management within the Specialist Surgical Services Group, you will be instrumental in assisting the Associate Service Group Director/Divisional Manager in providing effective leadership and oversight to the service.

Key Responsibilities

This is a remarkable opportunity to join the Specialist Surgical Services Group as the Head of Cardiac Services Management.

In this role, you will be a vital member of our Senior Management Team, contributing significantly to the development of our Cardiac Services while aiming to enhance performance and patient satisfaction.

The Cardiac Services Directorate encompasses cardiology (both tertiary and secondary), cardiac surgery, thoracic surgery, and cardiac & respiratory physiology.

We are looking for a seasoned, passionate, and results-oriented manager to guide the Cardiac team through the next stage of our improvement initiatives.

The successful candidate, alongside the Clinical Director and Deputy Head of Nursing, will collaborate as a leadership trio, responsible for organizing the Directorate's resources to ensure the provision of safe and effective patient care.

If you possess outstanding leadership and operational management capabilities, along with strong communication skills that enable you to engage effectively with key stakeholders, this position may be ideal for you.

As the Head of Cardiac Services Management, you will be accountable for various performance areas, including strategy, performance, and financial oversight.

Proficiency in Welsh is preferred for this role; however, applications from both Welsh and English speakers are encouraged.

Qualifications

Essential

  • A Master's degree or equivalent experience at a Senior Management level within the NHS.
  • A Service Improvement qualification (Bronze).

Desirable

  • Evidence of ongoing professional development.
  • A Service Improvement qualification (Silver).

Experience

Essential

  • Proven experience at a senior management level.
  • Demonstrated success in supporting complex organizational change.
  • A track record of meeting significant National targets.
  • Extensive experience in line management of staff.
  • Proven project management experience.
  • Experience in managing performance and ensuring targets and performance indicators are achieved.
  • Experience in addressing complex issues within a large organization.
  • Skills and experience in leading significant service improvements.
