Position Overview

We are excited to offer a unique opportunity for a skilled and motivated pharmacist to elevate their clinical practice and play a vital role in enhancing pharmacy services within a prestigious cardiac care environment.

This senior pharmacist role, supported by national health initiatives, will be integrated within the cardiology multidisciplinary team (MDT). The primary focus of this position is to improve patient safety, optimize medication management, facilitate efficient discharges, and ensure responsible financial management of cardiology prescriptions.

Main Responsibilities

Key Duties Include:

  • Lead and implement patient-focused pharmacy services within the cardiology department while utilizing your prescribing expertise.
  • Collaborate with clinical colleagues in a fully integrated MDT to address the pharmaceutical needs of cardiac patients.
  • Engage in advanced practice opportunities and contribute to the continuous improvement of cardiology services.
  • Prepare and present regular reports to relevant committees detailing outcomes and enhancements.

This role requires close collaboration with pharmacy staff, clinicians, nursing personnel, and other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure the delivery of high-quality pharmaceutical care to cardiac patients. The position will focus on the weekly ward rounds and managing homecare prescriptions.

Additionally, the role involves identifying opportunities for enhancing pharmaceutical services within the cardiac unit and implementing strategies to improve efficiency, quality, and patient satisfaction.

Supervision, mentorship, and training of junior staff will also be significant aspects of this position.

Delivering an independent prescribing service and overseeing pharmacy components of the Cardiac Home Delivery Service will be essential responsibilities.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Postgraduate MSc/Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent experience.
  • Registered member of the relevant professional body.

Desirable

  • Non-medical prescriber status.
  • Accredited tutor for clinical pharmacy diploma programs.

Experience

Essential

  • Ability to practice autonomously.
  • Experience as a clinical pharmacist in a specialized area.
  • Evidence of involvement in clinical audits, research, and implementation of protocols.

Desirable

  • Experience in lecturing on specialized subjects.
  • Experience as a pre-registration pharmacist tutor.
