Job Summary

The Senior Clinical Technologist will play a key role in the maintenance and repair of complex medical devices across various clinical settings within Swansea Bay University Health Board. This senior position requires a high level of technical expertise and autonomy to work independently with a range of high-risk medical devices.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide a maintenance, repair, and support service for a wide range of medical devices, including highly complex and patient-critical equipment.
  • Plan and prioritize non-routine breakdown requests, and deal with emergencies arising with equipment.
  • Perform commissioning and acceptance tests on newly purchased and loan equipment.
  • Maintain and repair a range of highly complex, patient-critical medical equipment located throughout the organization.
  • Participate in and contribute to the MEMS Quality Management System, adhering to policies and processes at all times.
  • Work according to Health Board and Departmental policies and procedures, and work with autonomy within the post holder's assigned duties.
  • Actively contribute to planning of service developments within MEMS, in conjunction with senior staff.
  • Provide assistance with the development of changes to Health and Safety Policies that will have an impact particularly in their own area of responsibility but also generally within MEMS.
Requirements
  • Achieved Grade or qualification required for the role.
  • Contemporary knowledge of analog and digital electronics and associated fault-finding techniques.
  • Experience of working with Anaesthetics Equipment (anaesthetic machines and ventilators).
  • Car license holder (UK) and car owner.
  • Member of the National Register of Clinical Technologists (RCT/AHCS), or can demonstrate working towards registration.
  • Sound grasp of Medical Device Management guidance.
  • Sound grasp of the use of Quality Systems (ISO 9001:2015).
