About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Ward Manager to join our Neonatal Unit at The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operational management of the clinical service delivery for the Neonatal Unit.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a team of healthcare professionals to provide high-quality patient care and ensure the efficient and effective utilisation of resources.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure safe and effective care for neonates and their families.
  • Collaborate with the Matron, Maternity, Paediatric leads, and senior management team to ensure high standards of safe and quality care provision on the Neonatal Unit.
  • Deputise for the Matron in their absence and drive forward evidence-based practice.
  • Supervise staff and ensure the supervision of staff and the policies and practices that operate within their clinical area.
Requirements
  • Registered Nurse/Registered Children Nurse with evidence of Continuing Professional development.
  • Leadership course and Newborn Life Support course (NLS) qualification.
  • Teaching and assessment qualification and ENB 405 qualification or equivalent.
  • Relevant experience at Band 6 taking charge of a Paeds/Neonatal ICU and experience of leading and managing a team.
  • Excellent neonatal clinical skills and knowledge and evidence of coordinating and managing day-to-day operational issues on an Paeds/Neonatal intensive care unit.
  • Experience in teaching and training staff and an awareness and understanding of national and local issues that affect Nursing and the NHS as a whole.
