We are seeking a dedicated and diligent individual to become a vital member of our Portering Team.
This role encompasses a variety of responsibilities driven by the operational needs of The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust. Key tasks include assisting with patient transfers, managing the collection and distribution of correspondence, transporting medical supplies, handling office furniture logistics, and ensuring waste management, all while maintaining a high standard of care for our patients.
The ideal candidate should possess a fundamental understanding of mobile device usage, as technology plays a crucial role in the Portering function.

Key Responsibilities
- Execute tasks related to specialized departments, including collaboration with external agencies.
- Support the Chargehand Porters in the onboarding and training of new team members until they are confident in their roles.
- Manage the collection and delivery of catering trolleys and dining equipment between the wards and the Catering Department.
- Gather soiled linen and general waste from all wards and departments, ensuring proper disposal in designated areas.
- Distribute mail and administrative documents across all hospital wards and departments, including off-site deliveries.
About Our Organization
The successful candidate will be required to work on a rotational schedule, which includes providing 24-hour coverage, weekends, nights, and public holidays.
The post holder will be committed to delivering a Portering service that exemplifies quality and efficiency, aligning with the Trust's core values.
