About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Pharmacist to join our Research and Innovation team at The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust. As a Specialist Clinical Pharmacist, you will play a key role in delivering a high level of clinical pharmacy input to our wards and working as an independent prescriber to optimize medicine regimes for our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in a team of highly specialized clinical pharmacists delivering a high level of clinical pharmacy input to the wards.
  • Work as an independent prescriber to optimize medicine regimes for patients.
  • Be part of a Research and Innovation team that delivers a consistently high clinical trials service for patients.
  • Act as a role model for and be responsible for developing core competencies of any pharmacist working in the clinical trial setting by organizing their training and assessing their competency.
  • Work with the Lead Pharmacist for Medicines Utilization regarding the operational management and strategic development of pharmaceutical services and to reduce the risk of medication misadventure within the Research and Innovation Division.

Requirements
  • Honours Degree in Pharmacy/MPharm.
  • Registration with the GPhC as a pharmacist.
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Pharmacy Practice or equivalent (completed both year 1 and year 2).
  • Relevant post-registration experience in hospital pharmacy.
  • Experience of supervision of staff.
  • Experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Experience of training and mentoring of foundation year trainee pharmacists and rotational staff.
  • Audit experience.
  • Excellent general clinical knowledge.
  • Specialized knowledge of drugs used and therapeutic trends within specialized areas.
  • Knowledge of healthcare systems guidance and NHS change.
  • Knowledge of postgraduate education for pharmacists.
