To qualify for the Assistant Merchandiser position, candidates should possess:

  • Experience with WSSI and direct planning involvement
  • Ownership of specific sub-categories
  • Knowledge of budgeting, option counts, depth of buy control, phasing, strategy, and supplier relationships
  • A supportive and approachable management style focused on team development

As an Assistant Merchandiser, your responsibilities will encompass:

  • Accountability for assigned categories, budget management, option counts, OTB, and trading actions
  • Leading weekly trade discussions by providing practical and commercial solutions to enhance departmental performance
  • Conducting in-depth analysis of historical data to build strategic insights
  • Establishing parameters for each trading period with clear strategic objectives regarding range size, planning, forecasting, coverage, and margin guidelines
  • Collaborating closely with the buying team to ensure merchandising KPIs are well-defined and attainable for product development and new range delivery
  • Accurately forecasting volume and new product lines
  • Identifying and setting objectives to enhance bottom-line margins
  • Proactively addressing delivery risks, lead times, or capacity issues with buying teams and suppliers
