THG is in search of a People Advisor to become a part of the People team. This role is essential in delivering professional HR support services to various operational areas.

Key Responsibilities:

Employee Relations:

  • Oversee the management of all core employee relations cases, including sickness, flexible working requests, performance management, grievances, and disciplinary actions.
  • Support colleague welfare through occupational health referrals, risk assessments, and capability processes.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to colleagues and managers as needed.
  • Collaborate with the HR Business Partner to ensure adequate support on complex employee relations matters.
  • Promote the development of effective people management skills.
  • Manage parental leave processes.

Performance Management:

  • Coach and influence managers to enhance their leadership and people management skills.
  • Ensure all formal performance management cases are documented in compliance with internal audit standards.
  • Assist managers in navigating the performance management framework and ensure timely progression through the stages.
  • Participate in follow-up actions related to performance ratings and succession planning.

Engagement & Development:

  • Assist in the design and implementation of engagement initiatives.
  • Enhance coaching skills among managers and colleagues.
  • Support the local induction process as necessary.
  • Deliver HR training modules to the management team.
  • Foster a positive culture of equality, diversity, and inclusion within the team.
  • Lead site recognition processes and assist managers in identifying and acknowledging top talent.
  • Contribute to the development of the people strategy.

Stakeholder Partnerships:

  • Manage and develop the People Assistants.
  • Collaborate with the broader People Team to ensure accurate payroll information is processed timely.
  • Work with Learning & Development teams to create and deliver manager training aligned with operational needs.
  • Provide guidance to staff and managers to ensure adherence to processes and procedures.
  • Engage in weekly planning and agency discussions.

Data Analysis:

  • Conduct weekly reviews of employee relations cases and KPIs to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Collaborate with the Talent business partner to analyze attrition data and develop action plans.
  • Monitor data trends from daily and weekly KPI reports.
  • Coordinate with operations for organizational changes and ensure HR systems are updated accordingly.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of two years of HR experience.
  • Experience advising managers on HR policies and procedures.
  • Experience managing HR cases in a warehousing or manufacturing context is preferred.
  • Strong technical knowledge and understanding of current employment legislation.
  • Excellent listening and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficient relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and present key findings effectively.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently.
  • Level 5 CIPD qualification is desirable.
  • Flexibility in working hours is required, as this area operates 24/7.
