Position Overview

In alignment with the guidelines set forth by the Michigan School Public Relations Association, the Specialist in Early Childhood Special Education plays a pivotal role in delivering tailored educational support to children aged 2.5 to 5 years. This position operates under the direct oversight of the Director of Early Childhood Services and adheres to the established protocols of the organization.

The Specialist is tasked with:

  • Implementing direct educational instruction and offering expert consultation to ensure the best outcomes for children with special needs.
  • Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, including preschool educators, physical therapists, occupational therapists, social workers, and autism specialists, to provide comprehensive support in diverse inclusive preschool environments.
  • Facilitating developmental evaluations to ascertain eligibility for services and tracking the progress of children within special education frameworks.

This role is dedicated to fostering an environment where students can achieve optimal levels of independence tailored to their unique capabilities, all while ensuring that the needs of both the children and their families are met effectively.
