SALARY RANGE: Competitive hourly rate based on experience

WORK SCHEDULE: Full-time, 35 hours per week

SUPERVISOR: Building Principal

General Summary

The Special Education Paraprofessional plays a crucial role in supporting the educational objectives of students with diverse needs, particularly those on the autism spectrum. This position involves collaboration with teachers to facilitate learning and assist in the implementation of educational programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver individualized or group academic support, utilizing instructional strategies designed by the classroom teacher.
  • Execute behavior intervention strategies, including data collection and incident reporting, under the guidance of teaching staff.
  • Oversee student activities during non-instructional times, ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
  • Gather and report on student progress towards Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals, collaborating closely with educators.
  • Aid in the creation and modification of educational materials as directed by teachers.
  • Maintain accurate attendance and other necessary records as required.
  • Support the integration of technology in the classroom as needed.
  • Ensure cleanliness and safety of classroom resources in accordance with district standards.
  • Assist in community-based instructional activities as appropriate.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned by the supervising educator.

Qualifications and Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
  • Proficiency in using basic office and audiovisual equipment is essential.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Experience working with students of varying developmental levels is preferred.
  • Familiarity with basic computer applications, including word processing, is advantageous.
  • Ability to implement lesson plans effectively for individuals or small groups.
  • Physical capability to assist with student mobility as necessary.
  • Willingness to engage in professional development and training.
  • Previous experience with students on the autism spectrum is a plus.
