Our projects vary significantly in scale, ranging from £5k to £15m, where we serve as both Principal Contractor and Principal Designer, as well as providing support to our esteemed Tier 1 contractor clients.
Role Overview
We are seeking a Civil Mechanical Engineering Manager to take on a permanent, full-time position within our organization. This newly created role is essential due to internal developments and offers a pathway to join our Senior Leadership Team. The successful candidate will oversee the Mechanical Design Engineering team while enhancing our civil engineering capabilities.
Position Details
This role is contracted for 42.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. We offer a flexible hybrid working model, which can be discussed during the hiring process, with client meetings taking priority. The position will involve travel to various client sites, and we prefer candidates who are within a reasonable commuting distance to our headquarters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the Civil and Mechanical engineering department.
- Enhance civil design capabilities, expanding the knowledge and skills of our Mechanical Design team.
- Oversee Civil and Mechanical Engineering Design aspects of projects, collaborating with all internal and external stakeholders.
- Work closely with various departments throughout the organization.
- Coordinate and support site investigations.
- Provide technical support to the broader business.
- Promote our core values within the team.
Qualifications and Experience:
Experience:
- Extensive experience in civil design engineering for small to medium-sized projects.
- Experience in the UK Water and/or Waste Water sectors or similar engineering projects.
- Proven track record in managing, developing, and mentoring multi-disciplinary design teams.
- Proficiency in CAD-based design systems, structural analysis, CDE systems, and planning tools.
- Experience in design project management and financial reporting.
- Ability to work from project specifications, statements of need, and relevant legislation.
Qualifications:
- A degree or equivalent qualification in Civil and/or Mechanical Engineering.
- Membership in relevant professional bodies.
