Position Overview

The University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW) is initiating a pioneering program aimed at enhancing the management of blood borne virus (BBV) testing within our emergency departments. We are in search of a proactive and detail-oriented individual to facilitate the results management process, ensuring seamless integration of care for patients diagnosed with Hepatitis C/B.

Key Responsibilities

The primary objective of this role is to oversee the results management for BBV testing in our emergency departments, which includes:

  • Collaborating closely with the Hepatitis C Operational Delivery Network (ODN) team to effectively manage patients diagnosed with Hepatitis C/B, adapting to varying circumstances as needed.
  • Making informed decisions to navigate multiple solutions for project management, including resource allocation and budget maintenance.
  • Communicating essential updates and changes to stakeholders regarding project developments.
  • Responding to liver scan results and coordinating necessary follow-up radiology appointments.
  • Gathering, organizing, and entering data into various local and national databases to ensure compliance with established national standards.
  • Utilizing diverse IT applications to conduct audits of project data, supporting ongoing monitoring efforts.

Coordination Duties

In this role, you will also be responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing processes to monitor patient progress through their care pathway, ensuring a smooth service delivery.
  • Maintaining communication with medical and nursing staff, as well as clerical colleagues, to facilitate an efficient service.
  • Providing regular updates to the project team regarding project status and any unexpected changes.
  • Liaising with patients to assist with transport arrangements, particularly for those who may be difficult to reach.

  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of patient rights and confidentiality, making independent decisions as necessary.

Qualifications and Skills

To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:

  • A minimum of 5 GCSEs / NVQ Level III or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in IT skills or qualifications equivalent to ECDL/RSA standards.
  • Experience working autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills, with the ability to manage sensitive information effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the capacity to motivate and negotiate with others.
