Key Responsibilities:

  • As a leading Financial Crime Risk Manager, you will collaborate with senior stakeholders across different business units to oversee their financial crime risks and maintain a strong control environment that aligns with the bank's risk appetite.
  • Work closely with the senior leadership team to proactively identify, assess, manage, monitor, and report on financial crime risks faced by Metro Bank.
  • Drive the establishment of a comprehensive 1st Line of Defence (LoD) Financial Crime risk and control framework, ensuring alignment with the bank's policies and standards.
  • Actively engage with your business area to manage financial crime risks, providing insights and opinions on risk profiles related to anti-money laundering, sanctions, fraud, and other regulatory concerns.
  • Offer expert advice and guidance on financial crime risks to ensure that threats are documented alongside a robust control framework.
  • Lead financial crime risk reviews and assurance activities to verify compliance with policies aimed at mitigating risks.
  • Collaborate with the 2nd LoD Financial Crime Policy Team to translate policies into effective systems, processes, and training.
  • Report on financial crime risk performance through various governance committees.

Required Qualifications:

  • Significant leadership experience in financial services, particularly in financial crime roles (1st or 2nd LoD), with a solid understanding of banking products, processes, and risk management frameworks.
  • Familiarity with digital banking and product management.
  • Proven experience in partnering with senior stakeholders to implement risk management processes, along with strong presentation and influencing skills.
  • Practical knowledge of financial crime risk management frameworks, including RCSA, IUMs, Thematic Risk Reviews, and risk reporting to governance committees.
  • Proficient in making risk-based decisions using expert judgment.
  • Ability to define and evaluate compliance with risk policies and standards, with experience in planning and conducting risk assessments.
  • Capability to design and enhance risk processes that meet day-to-day management and governance requirements.
  • Ideally, some exposure to banking products and digital banking.
  • Strong relationship management skills at a senior level, fostering constructive discussions and challenges.
  • Experience in communicating risk insights and opinions across the organization, along with risk reporting and presentations.
  • Awareness of the risks associated with the role and their implications for the bank and stakeholders.
