Role Overview:


• As a pivotal member of the Financial Crime Risk Management team at Metro Bank, you will collaborate with executive stakeholders across various business units, overseeing their financial crime vulnerabilities and ensuring a strong control framework that aligns with the bank's risk tolerance.


• Partner with our senior management to facilitate the proactive identification, evaluation, management, monitoring, and reporting of financial crime threats facing Metro Bank.


• Take the lead in establishing a comprehensive 1st Line of Defence (LoD) Financial Crime risk and control framework, in accordance with the bank's policies, standards, and defined risk appetite.


• Engage closely with your business area to manage financial crime risks effectively, providing insights and assessments on risk profiles related to anti-money laundering, sanctions, and fraud, as well as areas under heightened regulatory scrutiny such as anti-tax evasion, anti-corruption/bribery, and modern slavery.


• Offer expert Financial Crime risk guidance to ensure that potential threats and risks are documented alongside a solid control framework.


• Lead financial crime risk assessments and assurance activities to verify that systems, controls, and processes comply with established policies to mitigate risks.


• Collaborate closely with the 2nd LoD Financial Crime Policy Team to translate policies and standards into effective systems, processes, and training programs.


• Present financial crime risk performance metrics through various governance committees within the first and second lines.

Required Qualifications:


• Significant leadership experience in the financial services sector within a financial crime capacity (1st or 2nd LoD), with a solid understanding of banking products, processes, risk management frameworks, and non-financial risks along with their associated controls.


• A comprehensive understanding of digital banking and product management.


• Proven experience in business partnering with senior stakeholders to implement and facilitate risk management processes, with strong presentation and influencing skills.


• Practical experience in Financial Crime, including knowledge of risk management frameworks and processes such as RCSA, IUMs, Thematic Risk Reviews, and risk reporting to governance committees, along with a solid grasp of the regulatory landscape pertaining to Financial Crime compliance.


• Skilled in utilizing expert judgment to make informed risk-based decisions.


• Ability to define and evaluate compliance with risk policies and standards, with experience in planning, leading, and conducting risk assessments and in-depth reviews.


• Competence in designing and implementing effective risk processes and continuous improvements that meet the demands of daily risk management and governance.


• Ideally, some familiarity with banking products and digital banking.


• Exceptional relationship and stakeholder management abilities at a senior level, fostering constructive dialogue and challenge.


• Experience in communicating risk insights and opinions across the organization, as well as in risk reporting, management information, and presentations.


• A clear understanding of the risks associated with your role and their implications for you, Metro Bank, and all stakeholders.
